Alexa in the Big Apple...

After stumbling upon Alexa's photo and hearing of her move to New York, I checked out her Twitter to see what the gossip was on the other side of the pond, in my favourite city. Turns out last night she was DJ-ing at a party hosted by Creation Recreation to celebrate their spring '10 collection at the Cooper Hotel penthouse with 180-degree view of Manhattan's skyline. Sounds good to me.

According to Refinery29 she ended up dancing the Twist with her friend, Mark Ronson's new girlfriend, Tennesse Thomas, before later handing over the decks to dance to Blur.

Topshop hits the Big Apple

Two of my favourite places in the world, NYC and Topshop have now been introduced to each other with the new store opening in SoHo on Thursday which included true Brit style icon and supermodel Kate Moss. When I was there, New Yorkers couldn't get enough of the 'London Look', the style that still has that Punk edge, where innovative ideas and carelessness add to it's attraction to it's American counterparts.

So New York now have Topshop. And where the four-storey shop has 200 staff, 32 changing rooms and a DJ booth suspended from the ceiling, Topshop's billionaire owner, Sir Phillip Green has indicated that he anticipates up to 15 US stores, including in Miami, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Boston.

Despite the recession, I think the US is going to welcome Topshop with open arms and it may well be one of the few British retailers to be a success! Rock on!

Green Plaid Coat...

One of the many blogs I read is Stylesight's ingeniusly entitled 'Stylesightings' which regularly features entries from eddie - the author's - hometown of the wonderful New York - which just happens to be my favourite city in the world. My favourites of his entries frequently feature gorgeous New Yorkers with some serious style.

My fave today? A fun combination of layering involving Mickey Mouse, checks, colour and just the most gorgeous coat! Layered, green plaid - I'm guessing customised? Gorgeous!
