R.I.P. Michael Jackson

So shocked and so sad.

Whatever comes about now, no doubt many stories, the man was an absolute legend.

R.I.P. King of Pop.

Wishing for a festival...

Oasis Fringed Across The Body Bag - £40My Personal Fave - Levi's Studded Waistcoast - £90
Warehouse Skinny Long Shorts - £30

SOOO wanted to go to a festival this year but as ever funds are limited and other things got in the way! Always next year I suppose.

Wasn't so keen on the line up at Glasto this year compared to previous years anyway so plan is: SAVE and go next year when the sun will be shining and the line up is the best there ever has been? Oui?

Oh, the power of positive thinking...

Meanwhile I shall mostly be checking out some 'festival chic' as it were.

Arnhem: Fashion's new buzz

Klavers van Engelen
photographed by Mirjam Boekholt

With fashion's addiction to the new and innovative, it is only ever a matter of time before the next up and coming fashion destination is discovered and alas it is the quirky little city of Arnhem in the Netherlands.

Home to a prestigious Art Academy ArtEZ (of which Viktor & Rolf are among the Alumni) although off the radar until now, the city has been host to the Arnhem Mode Biƫnnale. The event takes place every two years, with this being the third and the biggest yet, setting the scene for Arnhem to take it's place as fashion's new hub of inspiration with big names such as Martin Margiela, Hussein Chalayan, Balenciaga and of course Viktor & Rolf all contributing key pieces as well as nuturing it's own talent in the form of Dutch creatives such as Klavers van Engelen (pictured above).

Definitely keeping my eye on this little city!

'Unseen' - Guy Bourdin @ The Wapping Project

Having been a fan of Guy Bourdin for a while now I was super excited to come across a new exhibition of some of the late Parisien's work at the Wapping Project in London, which I checked out yesterday. It was one of the best exhibitions I've been to.

Faux grass, bare brick walls and lights off aside from that shining out behind each of the 32 pieces' frames set the scene for a mixture of fashion editorials, adverts and private commissions to be displayed larger than they have been before as well as being made from the original transparencies by legendary New York printer Pascal Dangin - altogether creating even more striking images. Famous for the contraversial content of his pieces, as much as the vibrant colour and unique composition, the most impressive part is that all of them were created well before the age of digital photography.

Spectacular!

Unseen Guy Bourdin is at the Wapping Project 9 May - 4 July 2009
