Loving Luella...

So Luella's showing in London again. And what a difference a town makes!

Less fussy than before but somehow so beautiful Spring '10 is inspired by 'mid-sixities Sunday-best' according to Style.com which I am coming across more and more as I see the new collections. Think (500) Days of Summer with a gorgeous palette of pastels and cheerful brights.

Definitely off to track down some vintage 60's numbers before they all go!

Swedish Delights

Unfortunately I didn't have time last time I was in London but I was planning on checking out the current exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum: 'Swedish Fashion: Exploring A New Identity' which explores how since the 1990's Sweden has seen a growing sense of avant garde within design and showcases the work of thirteen up-and-coming fashion and jewellery designers showing a new, bold and surprising take on Swedish fashion.

Mmm... ZsuZsi hearts Candy Cakes!

On a visit to a rather chilly, rainy London the other day, a dear friend directed me to shelter. Or so I thought. She had actually directed me to the sweetest little cupcake shop I have ever seen, beckoning me in with pink fluorescent lighting, a pastel exterior and row after row of huge cupcakes decorated with sweeties - had I died and gone to some sort of cupcake heaven?! Nope, this haven of cupcake joy is appropriately named:

Candy Cakes.

So now you know. And with more branches opening throughout London, it'll be even harder to resist! Good Luck!

Stylees Project @ The Photographer's Gallery

I have a not-so-secret love for people who dress for themselves. Who take minutes, hours or days out of their lives to pose in front of the mirror, try on six different outfits, change their accessories double that number of times, until they finally decide that they are ready.

Fashion photographer and artist Othello De'Souza-Hartley celebrates just this with his new two day exhibition at The Photographer's Gallery (16-18 Ramillies Street, W1) in London on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th December, snapping those blessed with sartorial style and those who simply take risks, dare to look different and embrace their individuality. Check it out!

British Style Genius: Loud and Proud

Even US Vogue's Editor Anna Wintour (known by most as the most influential person in fashion) recognises the creative street style looks that make London's fashion look so distinctive - mixing urban culture, creativity and vintage - with a hell of a lot of fun!

These are the looks that not only influences other uber stylish people like your good selves but the high fashion elite, the designers themselves. British Style Genius - the brilliant new series on the BBC celebrates British style for what it is and looks at the issues effecting today's industry, including the democracy of fashion and my personal favourite, "Loud and Proud: The Street Look", including the leading online trend forecasting company WGSN's take on just how influential it is. Definately worth a watch.
