BBC Four: Seven Photographs that Changed Fashion

Rue Aubriot: Helmut Newton for French Vogue, Paris, 1975
Guy Bourdin for French Vogue, Paris, 1977
Fred with Tires (Body Shop Series): Herb Ritt, 1984

As previously mentioned after visiting the Annie Leibovitz exhibition, ZsuZsi hearts photography! So what more to ask for than a documentary on Fashion Photography featuring heavyweights Helmut Newton, Herb Ritts, David Bailey and Guy Bourdin on BBC Four last night?

Fashion Photographer Rankin takes a look through the decades to explore the defining moments of fashion photography and looks to recreate seven he thinks 'changed fashion' featuring models Heidi Klum, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Tuuli Shipster, Daphne Guinness and David Gandy.

Including interviews and input from: the man himself David Bailey, Lillian Bassman and now Italian Vogue Editor Franca Sozzani to help describe the changes first hand and to help recreate the iconic images.
It's on again on the 17th January at 9pm on BBC Four - Check it out.

Let me know what you think.

Beat the January blues @ ZsuZsi Boutique!

Hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and New Year!

If you are anything like me, there is nothing more depressing though after all the fun and festivities to prepare to face the New Year, get back to work, face the freezing weather and grey skies (and lets face it, slight overindulgence leading to slightly tighter clothing...)

Fear not, as ZsuZsi Boutique is offering 20% OFF selected items throughout January as well as FREE DELIVERY on everything!
That's right, not only do you not have to worry about squeezing into your usual size, you can simply choose to decorate yourself in some of ZsuZsi's gorgeous range of vintage and handmade accessories, so you'll still look as gorgeous as you always do and not even have to worry about your budget! Perfect!

Now, if only we could do something about those grey skies...

Take a peek, we've added lots of new, shiny pieces to add some much needed sparkle to your January!

Fashion Vs. Sport @ The V&A

Another very delayed visit to an exhibition the other day after the Duffy gig at Brixton Academy (photos on the way!), despite being open since summer, I decided it was about time I checked out the Fashion Vs. Sport exhibition at London's V&A Museum, which celebrates the ongoing relationship between contemporary fashion and sportswear.

Although it was relatively small, it included contributions from iconic fashion designers Vivienne Westwood, Chanel and Prada as well as new designers which are influenced by street style and urban culture such as Cassette Playa, above.

It also included the obvious collaborations between Adidas and Stella McCartney as well as individually customised branded products such as I-Saw’s hand-engraved Nike trainers.

Definately worth a look, though you'll have to make a space in your diary quick - it finishes on the 4th Jan!

Green Plaid Coat...

One of the many blogs I read is Stylesight's ingeniusly entitled 'Stylesightings' which regularly features entries from eddie - the author's - hometown of the wonderful New York - which just happens to be my favourite city in the world. My favourites of his entries frequently feature gorgeous New Yorkers with some serious style.

My fave today? A fun combination of layering involving Mickey Mouse, checks, colour and just the most gorgeous coat! Layered, green plaid - I'm guessing customised? Gorgeous!

Let me know what you think!

Stylees Project @ The Photographer's Gallery

I have a not-so-secret love for people who dress for themselves. Who take minutes, hours or days out of their lives to pose in front of the mirror, try on six different outfits, change their accessories double that number of times, until they finally decide that they are ready.

Fashion photographer and artist Othello De'Souza-Hartley celebrates just this with his new two day exhibition at The Photographer's Gallery (16-18 Ramillies Street, W1) in London on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th December, snapping those blessed with sartorial style and those who simply take risks, dare to look different and embrace their individuality. Check it out!

The Sunday Times: Vintage Shopping Online!

Just when we thought ZsuZsi Boutique had launched at the perfect time - an article in The Sunday Times Style magazine has confirmed we were right on the money!

"Here’s an idea. Why don’t they put vintage on the Internet?
Well, now they have, and, lo and behold, our latest addiction has suddenly
become trawling the web for one-off finds".

Though they haven't discovered our little haven of vintage joy quite yet, but in
the mean time they offered some worthy competitors for you to have a peek at for
all your vintage shopping needs and budgets!

"rokit.co.uk Basically, Hoxton online. A little pricey, but guaranteed good condition, with a wide selection that’s well edited.

ninaandlola.com Search by decade — clever — for some real stunners. Prices range from the reasonable to the ridiculous, and you’ll also find some cool new designers on sale here.

c20vintagefashion.co.uk Specialising in 1960s and 1970s rock’n’roll boutique finds. So that’s yer Biba, yer Ossie Clarke and yer Bill Gibb sorted. Photographed on real people, too".
